The ARISE Discipleship Program is a spiritual formation experience designed to help young women grow in following Jesus and forming a life around the presence of God in community.

The ARISE Fellows (up to 12 women) study the Bible while learning to apply Biblical principles and practices to their daily lives in New York City.

For the past two years our program has been a year-long residential experience. 2027 is going to be a unique transition year in our organization as we shift from a residential experience to a cohort program (non-residential). The Year 3 ARISE Discipleship Program will run from January-May 2027. See more details below!

Why are we shifting from a residential experience to a cohort-style program?

We have been seeking the Lord for his guidance on what is next with our ARISE program. And as we have spent time discerning and praying into Year 3 of the ARISE program, we have heard the Lord speak that our time at this house is coming to a close. This house has been an immense blessing to our ministry, and so it is bittersweet to see this chapter come to an end. But, though this means we will no longer have a townhouse, we believe this has only been the beginning for the ARISE program, the laying of the foundation of what is to come, and we are excited to continue building our ARISE program outside of the walls of the house.

We are so grateful for all God taught us during this season as a residential program. Though we have truly loved the ARISE house, removing this piece of the ministry is going to provide new opportunities in the way we serve women and in the operations of our ministry. This can enable us to reach more women through a cohort style program, and opens the doors to scaling this ministry, format and curriculum beyond a townhouse in New York. We truly believe that because of this shift that the ARISE program is only going to grow and expand in its fruitfulness.

The ARISE Discipleship Program consists of Biblical curriculum, mentorship, workshops and seminars with Christian ministry leaders, service and outreach opportunities, as well a retreat - all with the goal of growth into the image of Jesus.

ARISE Discipleship Program

  • A spiritual formation experience designed to help young women grow in following Jesus and forming a life around the presence of God in community.

    Our desire is to equip early-career women in New York City to live faithfully as followers of Jesus, and we believe this takes intentionality in discipleship. This program supports young women as they learn to seek God and lay a firm foundation for a fruitful life ahead.

  • According to Barna only 10% of Christian twentysomethings have resilient faith, and this refers to Christians who are basic followers of Jesus. Every year thousands of young women are moving to New York City. There are currently over 673,000 women ages 20-29 living in NYC. (US Census Bureau) And according to the American Bible Society, 81% of Gen Z is curious about scripture and 64% say they wish they read the Bible more.

    Dallas Willard famously said “The greatest issue facing the world today, with all its heartbreaking needs, is whether those who, by profession or culture, are identified as ‘Christians’ will become disciples – students, apprentices, practitioners – of Jesus Christ, steadily learning from him how to live the life of the Kingdom of the Heavens into every corner of human existence.”

    Your twenties are a time of transition into adulthood, and sowing seeds that have the potential to bear fruit in the seasons of life to come. Young women in New York City will either be formed by the world, or transformed by the person of Jesus. We have seen that young women are hungry for intentional discipleship, and we want to be a part of seeing them ARISE into who God created them to be.

    • Early career women who desire deeper devotion to Jesus.

    • A willing heart for the things of God.

    • Faith in the Gospel of Christ.

    • Teachability and a hunger for mentorship.

    • Currently lives in New York City or will be moving here upon start of program.

    • Seeking community and close fellowship with other Christians.

  • Weekly meet in a small group setting with intentional sharing, scripture reading and prayer.

  • Monthly meeting with a woman of strong Christian faith and grow as you learn from her faith in her daily life.

  • Encounter God in community through corporate prayer and worship. Attend the PrayNYC Prayer Room together weekly.

Rooted

Knowing and Living God’s Word

  • Meet weekly for core Bible study teaching, discussion and prayer with other ARISE Fellows.

  • Learn to read, understand and apply God’s Word to your life as you study through specific books of the Bible alongside the other fellows.

  • Learn and apply spiritual practices in community, including Prayer, Sabbath, Solitude, and Fasting.

  • Learn from ministry leaders through workshops on various topics of spiritual formation.

Rising

Living on Mission for the Kingdom

  • Learn how to live aware of how God is moving in the lives of those around you and practice hospitality by inviting friends and neighbors into the ARISE townhouse.

  • Experience the heart of Jesus in NYC through group outreach, prayer walks and serve days.

  • Opportunities to connect with strong women of faith who are leaders in your desired vocation/career. (ie..business, fashion, arts, media..etc)

  • This is for young women (ages 18-30) seeking intentional discipleship and growth in their walk with Jesus. You can be currently living in New York City or transitioning to life and career in New York City. The program is designed for specifically unmarried women, and you must be over the age of 18 and under the age of 30 to apply.

  • We accept up to 12 women to be fellows in the ARISE Discipleship Program.

    With the shift from a residential program to a cohort, we are able to expand our size and allow more women to experience spiritual formation!

  • This program is designed for women interning, working part-time, or full-time jobs. The expectation is that you prioritize attending and participating in the scheduled programming. We encourage you to thoughtfully think through if this personally works with your work schedule as you consider applying.

  • For the last two years of the program, the ARISE Fellows have lived in the ARISE Townhouse on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. However, with the shift from a residential program to a cohort, the ARISE Fellows will live on their own and will be responsible for finding their own housing.

    Much of the program will take place in in-person in Manhattan (weekly Bible study, attending the PrayNYC Prayer Room, mentor meetings, workshops, etc.), so applicants should keep that in mind when applying and/or looking for housing in the city.

  • Our ministry exists as a non-profit organization, outside the walls of the church, yet on mission alongside the work of the Church. There are women in our community from all different denominations and churches.

  • For the last two years, the ARISE program has been a year-long residential program (9 months of formal programming and 3 months of “off-boarding”) running from September to August of the following year. With this being a transitional year, ARISE Year 3 will be 5 months long spanning from January to May 2027.

    • 5-6 hours a week

    • 30 hours a month (including workshops, weekly Bible study, serve days, accountability group, and mentor meetings)
